Why live in fear ?
165:3.1 (1819.9)By the end of January, the crowd present on the afternoon of the Sabbath numbered nearly three thousand people. On Saturday, Jan. 28, Jesus delivered the memorable address on “Confidence and Spiritual Readiness. After some introductory remarks by Simon Peter, the Master said:
165:3.2 (1820.1)'What I have said many times before to my apostles and disciples, I now say also to this multitude: Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, the hypocrisy that springs from prejudice and is nourished by submission to traditions, even though many of these Pharisees are honest in their hearts and a few of them reside here as my disciples. Soon you will all understand my teaching, for there is nothing that is now hidden that will not be revealed. All that is now hidden from you will be made known to you when the Son of Man has completed his mission on earth in the flesh.
165:3.3 (1820.2)'Soon, very soon, the things which our enemies now plot in secret and in darkness will be brought to light and proclaimed from the rooftops. But I tell you, friends, do not fear them when they seek to destroy the Son of Man. Do not fear those who, even if they can kill the body, have no power over you afterwards. I advise you not to fear anyone, in heaven nor on earth, but to rejoice in the knowledge of Him who has the power to free you from all unrighteousness and to make you stand blameless before the seat of justice of a universe.
165:3.4 (1820.3)'Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And yet, while these little birds flit about in search of food, none of them exists without the Father, the source of all life, knowing it. Even the hairs on your head are counted and known to your seraphic guardians. And when all this is true, why should you live in fear of the many trifles that occur in your daily life? I say to you, fear not; ye are of far greater value than many sparrows.
165:3.5 (1820.4)'All of you who have had the courage to confess your faith in my gospel before men, I will soon acknowledge before the angels in heaven; but he who will knowingly deny the truth of my doctrine before men, will be denied by his destined keeper, even before the angels in heaven.
165:3.6 (1820.5)'Say what you will about the Son of Man, and you will be forgiven; but he who presumes to speak blasphemous language against God will find it difficult to be forgiven. When people go so far as to deliberately attribute God's actions to the forces of evil, such deliberate rebels will also hardly seek forgiveness for their sins.
165:3.7 (1820.6)'And when our enemies bring you before the rulers of the synagogues and before other high authorities, do not be anxious about what you will say, and do not be anxious how you should answer their questions, for surely the spirit that dwells in you will teach you just then what you should say in honor of the gospel of the kingdom.
165:3.8 (1820.7)'How long will you hesitate in the valley of decision? Why dost thou waver between two views? Why must Jew or Gentile hesitate to accept the good tidings that he is a son of the eternal God? How long will it be before we can persuade you to enter your spiritual inheritance with joy? I have come into this world to reveal the Father to you and to lead you to the Father. I have done the former, but I cannot do the latter without your consent: the Father never forces anyone to enter the kingdom. The invitation has always sounded and will always sound: he who will come, let him come and take freely of the water of life.
165:3.9 (1820.8)When Jesus stopped speaking, many came forward to be baptized by the apostles in the Jordan River, listening to the questions of those who remained.
